Ayurvedic way to manage Diabetes Mellitus .

In Ayurveda ,Diabetes is known as Prameha .   Normally, the pancreas (an organ behind the stomach) releases insulin to help your body store and use the sugar and fat from the food you eat. Diabetes can occur when the pancreas produces very little or no insulin, or when the body does not respond appropriately to insulin. As yet, there is no cure. People with diabetes need to manage their disease to stay healthy. Ayurveda has dsecribed diabetes as Prameha and has suggested ways to manage diabetes.
Ayurveda aims to to improve quality of life by preventing complicationthrough adjusting the diet , adding rejuvenating herbs and corrective water and fat metabolism .
According to modern medicine ,diabetes mellitus is a metabolis disorder that usally occurs in adults over 40years of age .In most cases it is a managable diseases .however  if proper care is not taken ,it may become serious and can lead to many complications .diabetes has an inherited predisposition . however certain habits and lifestyle  are known to activate it .Most people who develop later in life ,usally have poor dietary habits and overweight or obese .
The preliminary symptoms are
       increased appetite ,
       Frequant urination ,\
       unusual  thirst ,
       Weight change (gain or loss)
       Extreme fatigue or lack of energy
       Blurred vision
       Frequent or recurring infections
       Cuts and bruises that are slow to heal
       Tingling or numbness in the hands or feet
       Trouble getting or maintaining an erection .
If the disease is not treated properly and brought under control .it may lead to certain complications such as high blood pressure .obesity ,high cholesterol and heart problems .
Yoga Therapy for Diabetes .
The plan for yoga therapy varies with the health status of the person , it depends on
Blood sugar level .
Presence of Acidosis and it’s severity .
Other systemic illness like Ischaemic heart diseases . ,Obesity ,chronic and non healing wounds like bed sores ,infections etc .
in a person who is more conscious ,who has will to practice yoga and medically stable person , yoga therapy helps to bring down the level of stress . It also helps in  mobilization of joints ,and increase of muscular strength .

Ayurvedic Treatment
1- Mixture of gudmara (gymnema sylvestrum) ,kumbha(careya arborea) ,asana (pterocarpus marsipium) and haritaki .each 1gm . can effectively control blood sugar .
2-Arjuna ,barberry ,guduchi in equal quantity in dose of 500mg.two times a day .
An Ayurvedic physician is likely to give panchakarma treatment accrding to client”s requirement .
